Project Journals

Each student (grades 1-5) is encouraged to keep a project journal throughout the course of preparing his/her science fair project. A project journal is a small notebook of some sort which is used to document the day-by-day activities associated with conducting a science fair project. The student should date each entry to show the progression of the work.

A journal is an important tool to demostrate that the student did, in fact, conduct the experiment or carry out the research him/herself. Project journals are included on the judging rubrics and will be awarded points in all grades except Kindergarten. Kindergarteners may choose to keep a journal, if capable, but are not required. No points are awarded to Kindergarteners for project journals.
